The Scottish Bame Women

Donation Terms & Conditions

Thank you for supporting Scottish Bame Women. These Donation Terms and Conditions govern all charitable donations made to our organisation through our website (thesbw.org).

Charity Information: Scottish Bame Women is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO), Scottish Charity Number SC053466, regulated by the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR). Registered contact: thesbworg@pm.me.

1. General Principles

By making a donation to Scottish Bame Women, you confirm that:

  • You are at least 18 years of age (or have the consent of a parent or guardian).
  • You are using your own payment card/account or have explicit authorisation from the cardholder.
  • The donation is made as an unconditional, voluntary charitable gift.

2. Approved Donation Model

In accordance with SBW’s agreed governance policies:

  • Donation Type: We accept general charitable donations in support of our core charitable purposes. There are no separate Zakat or Sadaqah designated categories available at launch.
  • Frequency: Donations are accepted on a one-off basis only at launch. Recurring donations may be introduced at a later date.
  • Currency: All transactions are processed in Pounds Sterling (GBP, £).
  • Processing Fees: Scottish Bame Women absorbs all third-party payment processing fees. We do not ask donors to cover card processing fees at checkout.
  • Gift Aid: We do not collect or advertise Gift Aid declarations at launch. Once HMRC charity tax recognition and Gift Aid procedures are formally active, an official declaration option will be made available.
  • Receipts: An electronic confirmation receipt is automatically dispatched to the email address you supply upon successful payment.

3. How Donations Are Used

Unless an express donor-imposed restriction is formally agreed in writing by the charity trustees, all contributions are treated as unrestricted general charitable donations. The board of charity trustees allocates donated funds in direct furtherance of SBW’s charitable purposes and constitution, including:

  • Women’s wellbeing and mental health initiatives;
  • Community workshops and educational confidence-building;
  • Support for women facing social isolation, hardship, or disadvantage across Scotland;
  • Operational costs necessary to deliver and sustain our charitable programmes.

4. Payment Security & Data Handling

Online payments are processed securely using Stripe via the GiveWP platform. All payment details are encrypted using Transport Layer Security (TLS/SSL). Stripe is a certified PCI-DSS Level 1 service provider. Scottish Bame Women never receives, handles, or stores your credit or debit card numbers.

Personal information collected during donation (name, email address, transaction amount) is handled strictly in accordance with our Privacy Policy and statutory charity accounting standards. We do not publicise donor names.

5. Refund Policy

As a registered Scottish charity, donations are generally non-refundable once processed. However, we recognise that genuine mistakes occur, such as typing errors or duplicate transactions. We do not impose an arbitrary deadline; each refund request is assessed individually, fairly, and empathetically subject to all legal rights.

If you believe a donation was made in error, please contact us promptly at thesbworg@pm.me with:

  • Your full name;
  • The date and exact amount of the transaction;
  • The email address provided during the donation;
  • A brief explanation of the error.

Approved refunds are returned to the original payment card or method used.

6. Complaints & Governance

If you have any questions, concerns, or complaints regarding your donation, please consult our Complaints Procedure or email us at thesbworg@pm.me.

7. Governing Law

These terms and conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Scotland, and are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Scottish courts.

8. Date of Review

These Donation Terms and Conditions were adopted in October 2026.
